I try to create for my students a pleasant learning environment which emphasizes collaboration rather than competition. I encourage my students to research, reflect on, and discuss issues that matter to them and society, and this can empower them to take control of their English learning. For me, the most rewarding part of being a teacher is seeing my students become critical thinkers who use knowledge to improve their own lives and the world. My research interests include critical pedagogy, English composition, rhetoric, business English and the global economy, and critical discourse analysis.
