Hui-wen Cheng, Assistant Professor
Ph.D., National Taiwan University, Taiwan
The three years studying at Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation, National Taiwan Normal University had equipped me with the skills and knowledge required for my professional practice as a freelance translator. My translation works include novels, tool books, academic papers, texts and documents from various professional fields. Looking for a different academic experience, I chose to study for a PhD in literature from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, National Taiwan University. My primary research interests are in the fields of translation theory, translation and globalization, world literature and literary translation. In teaching, in addition to help students acquire translation skills through practice, I also like to prompt them to explore the differences between Chinese and English written communications through discussions so as to train them to develop deep reflections and understanding of the nature of translation and the role of a translator.
