Steven Chun-ann Chang, Assistant Professor
PhD in Translation Studies, Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpretation, National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan
I worked as a freelancer of English-Chinese translation and interpretation for many years, providing T&I services for various fields of expertise, such as IT industry, investment seminar, education conference, long-term care conference, private legal meetings of criminal defence (legal dispute), the conference of IACD, the International Documentary Festival, workshops of Italian Winery, as well as technical meetings at some international sports events, etc. I started to teach translation and interpretation courses at some universities in Taiwan when I obtained a MA in T&I from CityU of Hong Kong. As I also have a MA in English language teaching from the University of Nottingham (UK), I have always been committed to excellence in teaching and helping my students learn better with practical and efficient approaches to T&I practice.
I joined Soochow University (SCU) as a full-time faculty member in 2019. I am mainly in charge of teaching the interpreting courses of the Master’s programme of Translation and Interpretation at the English department. Furthermore, to keep my students updated with the latest developments in the language service industry, I invite experts and scholars of T&I every semester and hold workshops for my students. I am a conscientious, responsible and caring teacher and get on very easily with my students and other colleagues.
