Writing to hand in: Write five differences between the way people communicated with others in the past and the way(s) they communicate now.
Talk on the telephone with different businesses, asking for and giving information

8 4/12 Education: Comparing past and present. Talk about problems college students have and share advice. Writing to hand in: Write five sentences about how life for college students is different from life for high school students.

Writing to hand in: write a paragraph or so introducing a work of art: painting, song, sculpture, film, (anything you consider art). You will introduce this to a small group of people in class. You can play music softly or show images on phone or tablet if that helps.
13 5/17 Chapter 8: Generations’ Relations Bring Textbook
14 5/24 Traveling: Travel agencies. Visit classmates' travel agencies and choose the trip you like best. Writing to hand in: Plan a six day trip to a foreign country. Give basic information about travel, where to go, where to stay, and what to do. Be prepared to present your plan in less than five minutes. 
15 5/31 Taiwan History.  Talk about Taiwan in the past. Writing to hand in: Summarize one event in Taiwan's history. Prepare to talk about it briefly. When did it happen? Who was involved? What happened? Why is it important?
16 6/7 Opinion polls:
Fill out and report on polls Create an opinion poll, and poll your classmates
Writing to hand in: Write at 4-5 (or more) questions about one topic to ask to as many classmates as possible. (create a form so you can write their answers quickly: see page 115 for example)
17 6/14 English Speaking Final. Sign up for a 10-minute slot. Come to my office. You will be able to choose from topics we discussed during the whole semester. The only topics you cannot choose is what you did for the midterm talk sho and your Teach the class day.
