1 2/26 Class introductions. Talk about your semester break.  
2 3/5 Taiwan History. HW: Summarize one event in Taiwan's history. Prepare to talk about it briefly. When did it happen? Who was involved? What happened? Why is it important? Make a timeline of important events in Taiwan's history.
3 3/12 Secrets of success for life. What does it mean to be successful? HW: Research on the Internet in English. Find the secrets of success for a famous person. Type brief notes in your own words and bring them to class. Play the role of a famous person. Tell about your success and how you acheived it.
4 3/19 Communication changes. HW: Write five differences between the way people communicated with others in the past and they way(s) they communicate now. Talk on the telephone with different businesses, asking for and giving information
5 3/26 Famous crimes. HW: Find out about a famous crime. Prepare to tell others in class about it. Write down one short paragraph about it. Report on what happened (who, where, when, why, how)

7 4/9 Food. HW: Create a menu. This menu can be for any kind of food, but it should all be in English. List just a few dishes and perhaps some beverages, and side orders. Prepare to describe the items on your menu in more detail. Your menu can simply be words on one piece of paper, or you can make it look fancy if you wish. Role-play going to a restaurant and ordering food.

8 4/16 Restaurants.HW: Research a good local restaurant. This can be a tiny "hole-in-the-wall" cheap place with good food, or fancy expensive place. Bring pictures. Talk about food, service, environment, etc. Play the role of a restaurant critic. Talk about places to eat and make recommendations.

17 6/18 Sign up for a 10-minute slot. Come to my office. You will be able to choose from topics we discussed during the whole semester. The only topics you cannot choose is what you did for the midterm talk sho and your Teach the class day.
