Congratulations! First of all, I want to say you are so lucky to enter the English department of SCU because there are lots of good learning resources, and nice teachers in our department and school. And I believe so long as you are serious about your studies, you can gain a great number of treasures from SCU.

To make your university life more successful, you must know some tips of studying in the English department and secrets of living on the campus. Therefore, in the following paragraphs, I want to reveal these tips and secrets to you.

In the beginning, I think your first impression of our campus is that there are lots and lots of stairs, especially when you go from the building R to the building B. However, as a matter of fact, in our campus, there are two secret passageways which can help you save your time on climbing steps among the library, the building R, H, and B. One passageway links the reading room behind the library to the building H. And this way is on your right hand when you go out the reading room and on the half of stairs to the library. The other passageway links the library or the building R to the building H. And this way is more secret than the former because it is underground. When you are on the top steps leading to the building R, you can see the library is on the left and this secret way is on the right.

Before I knew these two passageways, I spent a lot of time climbing the long stairs leading to the building R. However, after I knew those, I always got to classrooms earlier than my classmates. And when they ask me the reason why I get classrooms so fast, I always say that is a secret! So how lucky you are, though you are freshmen, you have already known these secret passageways which even some teachers do not know!

Next, I want to give you some advice on studying in the English department. As I know, there are not a lot of quizzes on the courses of freshmen. However, that means you have to learn how to use your time well on preview and review.

Before I learned that important tip, I had a bad experience on my course which was the Introduction to Western Literature. At that time, my teacher did not give us any quiz before the midterm exam, so I did not review the works until the week before the midterm exam. And I found it was impossible for me to review six works in a week. After that midterm exam, I got a lesson that previewing and reviewing were very important! And I also think this tip is applicable to any student no matter what you major in.

Now, since I have already shared my secrets with you, it is your turn! I hope you can
